Unyte Health welcomes Sean Inderbitzen, LCSW, DSW, and Kelly Beins, BA, BHSc, OTR/L, to this Provider Spotlight that will highlight how providers can recognize and support clients and their individual needs.
Sean is an autistic psychotherapist and researcher through Mayo Clinic Health System. He regularly trains healthcare professionals to be more confident when working with people on the Autism spectrum.
In this session, Autism in Polyvagal Terms, we will share skills that can enhance Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) delivery for people on the spectrum. Discussing Sean’s application of Polyvagal Theory, using specific language and examining how social engagement can look across all people, we’ll explore case examples, applying the discussed concepts and practical exercises to current SSP examples.
This session will explore questions like:
- How can providers recognize and support clients with different needs?
- What is a neural exercise and what can the SSP do to create that opportunity?
- How can the SSP help ease dysregulation that can contribute to sensory challenges and hypersensitivities, effects of trauma and stress, social isolation, and disengagement?
