ADHD Therapy for Children
BRAIN TRAINING
ADD/ADHD stems from the brain’s inability to effectively organize and process information. While prescription drugs work by increasing the cerebellum’s ability to function, brain training uses various methods to rewire the brain and train it to naturally produce its own hormones. Bio-feedback and Listening Therapy have both been shown to be effective ways to naturally increase this production.
Bio-feedback uses electrical sensors to train the brain to attend to a certain task. When the brain maintains focus, the ensuing reward becomes motivation to continue to focus.
Listening therapy uses high and low frequency sound waves to improve the brain’s ability to organize information. With appropriate frequency, duration and intensity, the changes created through listening therapy are permanent as the plasticity of the brain ensures. When music is also delivered through bone conduction and combined with movement, whole body organization is improved leading to a more effective foundation for attention and concentration.

THE SAFE AND SOUND PROTOCOL (SSP)
The Safe and Sound Protocol, or SSP, is a non-invasive application of Polyvagal Theory, based on decades of research and developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, Unyte’s Chief Scientific Advisor.
The SSP’s effectiveness has been proven in a wide range of studies, most notably in two clinical trials involving children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Trial participants demonstrated statistically significant improvements in:
- Emotional control
- Behavioral organization
- Hearing sensitivity and listening
The SSP program, which is facilitated by qualified and certified professionals, employs a practical bottom-up approach to help children and adults regulate their nervous system more consistently and independently.

THE FOCUS SYSTEM
The Focus System is a clinical-level intervention designed for home use, consisting of therapeutically-treated music combined with fun movement activities, and, when ready, cognitive challenges to further activate brain networks.
Each program provides simultaneous multisensory input to help develop new and reinforce existing pathways governing organization of the body and brain function. Therapeutic music is delivered via iLs’ air and bone conduction headphones, providing auditory input to the brain and sensory input to the body. Movement activities, customizable for all levels, provide additional sensory and motor input for body organization.
The flexibility of 60-minute or 30-minute versions of the programs, which target specific goals, make implementation easy in clinics, schools and home for children and adults.
