Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can have a wide range of symptoms that can affect your health and general well being. Our programs have proven successful at helping victims of TBI address the symptoms and improve cognitive function.
These programs address the development of whole brain/body integration through a staged developmental approach, starting with the fundamentals of sensory integration and then extending through more complex cognitive functions, including language, self-expression, and social skills.
HOW IT WORKS
Our programs are based on the fact that we can change our brain – we can essentially re-wire it through specific and repeated stimulation, a concept known as neuroplasticity. As in building strength and endurance with physical exercise, we are able to build neurological pathways and synaptic activity at any age.
THE BENEFIT
ILS has a global effect on the brain and central nervous system. As a result, it is successfully integrated into a wide variety of programs. It is also an effective rehab tool, addresses users’ vestibular systems and is easily customized for different therapeutic objectives, program lengths, and client needs.
SELECTED CASE STUDIES
TBI, SEVERE DEFICITS IN MEMORY, HEMORRHAGE, MILD COGNITIVE SLOWING
Upon observation, the music appeared to have a positive effect on the clients emotional state. She was observed dancing in chair slightly and having a smile on her face while listening. She also expressed that she liked the music and enjoyed it.
MILD TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
After his first iLs program, he completed the entire SCAN-3 test without fatigue setting in and showed significant improvement Auditory Figure Ground, Competing Words and Time Compressed Sentences. After his 2nd iLs program, J scored in the normal range on all sub-tests. Most significant improvement was made with the sub-test Competing Words Direct Ear, a diagnostic test that assesses the ability to process competing speech signals by presenting monosyllabic word to each ear simultaneously.
STROKE
At the onset of therapy, the client was able to read single words with 44% accuracy. He was able to read basic sentences with 20% accuracy. At post-testing, the client was able to read single words with about 80% accuracy and simple sentences with 55% accuracy. Initially, the client would read only the nouns in the sentences, but now the client is able to read the full sentence word for word, in order.

I can't believe last fall I had to distract E trying to keep the earphones on for only fifteen minutes and now he puts them on for a whole hour a day and can do the playbook and all the sewing cards, puzzles, beading and cutting calmly. He's changed so much!
