Liz Charles, MD

Dr. Liz Charles is a physician in the UK with a passion for neuroscience relating to social and emotional well-being.

Completing her Medical Degree at St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, Liz practiced as a full-time partner in General Practice in the South West of England. Inspired by the Polyvagal Theory, she now uses this lens to explore the wide-reaching effects of trauma on the brain and body and specialises in the remote delivery of SSP for adults experiencing the effects of complex trauma.

One of the first SSP providers in the UK, Liz draws on a wealth of personal and professional experience to sensitively deliver SSP to meet individual needs and also provides professional guidance to fellow SSP Providers. 

Honoured to develop new training material at the request of Dr. Porges, she produced a manual and video for SSP providers in Summer 2019, contributed to the development of new remote delivery guidelines and training webinar in Spring 2020, and regularly gives Q&A sessions.

Dr. Liz is delighted to be a member of the Clinical Advisory Team, giving her the ongoing opportunity to contribute to best practices for the safe and effective delivery of SSP and supporting the SSP Provider community,

Living by the coast she enjoys walking on the beach and cliffs tops with her dog, Tilly.
