The Role of Regulation in Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation and physical health professionals help clients rebuild movement, communication and confidence after injury, illness or developmental challenges. Yet when the nervous system remains in a state of stress or defense, progress can slow or stall.
Unyte’s evidence-based listening therapies complement your treatment approach by helping clients find safety, regulation and readiness — supporting more effective engagement, faster recovery and sustainable outcomes.

Why Regulation Matters in Rehabilitation & Physical Health
Physical, cognitive, and communicative recovery all depend on a regulated nervous system. When clients are anxious, shut down, or hypervigilant, it becomes difficult to access the physiological state needed to build and strengthen motor learning, speech, and cognitive skills.
Through nervous system regulation, listening therapies allow clients to participate more fully in rehabilitation — enhancing coordination, attention, and resilience.

How Our Programs Fit Your Practice
Our evidence-based listening therapies complement physical, occupational and speech therapies, and more, by promoting regulation and readiness — helping clients engage, recover and sustain their progress more effectively.

Safe and Sound Protocolâ„¢ (SSP)
Supports regulation by reducing stress responses and improving emotional and physiological safety. Helps clients become more receptive to movement, communication and daily living tasks.
- Targets the ventral vagal pathway and social engagement system
- Improves social connection, sound sensitivities, and autonomic regulation
- Delivered via 5 hours of music, best experienced while engaging in regulating activities

Rest and Restore Protocolâ„¢
RRP extends regulation into the sub-diaphragmatic domain, supporting rhythmic communication between the brainstem and visceral organs. RRP promotes autonomic flexibility, parasympathetic restoration and immobilisation without fear.
- RRP targets the healing qualities of the autonomic nervous system
- Supports deep relaxation, recovery, balance in the body and mind, and connection to self, cultivating interoception and self-regulation.
- A dynamic, progressive program, including five hours of Sonocea® Enhanced musical themes.

Integrated Listening Systemâ„¢ (ILS)
Combines music, movement, and multisensory input to improve brain-body integration. Ideal for occupational and physical therapists supporting coordination, balance, motor planning, and attention.
- Engages and stimulates different parts of the brain (visual, auditory, and vestibular systems)
- Improves brain-body organization for skill-building and optimization
- Delivered via 5 programs with modified music plus movement and bone conduction
Benefits for Clients
- Increased readiness for physical, speech, or cognitive rehabilitation.
- Reduced stress, muscle tension, and anxiety during sessions.
- Improved coordination, attention, and communication.
- Enhanced ability to sustain progress and generalize skills to daily life.
