At Unyte Health, we believe in the profound ability of sound-based interventions to help people feel safe, connected and at ease in their bodies. The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) has shown that music can be more than a form of art — it can be a powerful pathway toward healing, connection and resilience.
That’s why we’re excited for the upcoming release of our newest SSP playlist, SSP Visions. In collaboration with two-time GRAMMY-nominated artist and neurodiversity advocate Chris Redding, SSP Visions is the result of one artist and his family’s deeply personal and emotionally resonant experience with the world of sound, music and listening therapies.
This partnership marks an inspiring chapter for Unyte, where science and creativity meet to expand the emotional and therapeutic possibilities of the SSP experience. Continue reading to learn more about Chris Redding and his son’s journey with the SSP.
A Journey in Sound, Inspired by Connection
Chris Redding is an award-winning artist, songwriter and producer, celebrated for his powerful fusion of hip-hop, ambient chant and R&B. A #2 charting artist on iTunes and a World Entertainment Award winner, Chris uses his platform to advocate for mental health and neurodiversity. His music resonates deeply with listeners, particularly those with autism, ADHD, and synesthesia.
While his music has always been about storytelling through sound, he says that becoming a father to a child on the spectrum transformed his journey in ways he never imagined.
“Christian is autistic and non-speaking, and early on, I realized that sound — not just language — would be one of our most powerful tools for connection,” Chris says. “I started paying attention to how music, tones, and even silence could create calm, spark joy, or help him regulate. It deepened my understanding of sound as a form of communication and connection, and it reshaped the way I approach my work as a musician.”
For Chris and Christian, music was a way of listening beyond words — an experience of presence, safety and shared emotion. That same understanding is at the heart of the Safe and Sound Protocol.
“Music became not just a passion, but a bridge between us.”
Discovering the Safe and Sound Protocol
Chris and his wife, Serena, were first introduced to the SSP through a therapist working with Christian. Developed by neuroscientist Stephen Porges, Ph.D., the Safe and Sound Protocol is a sound- and music-based intervention designed to gently stimulate the vagus nerve and support nervous system regulation.
By listening to the specially filtered music through over-the-ear headphones, the SSP helps clients gradually shift out of defensive states and into states of social engagement. Since 2016, the SSP has been used by thousands of providers, clinics and health organizations worldwide to support individuals with anxiety, trauma, sensory processing challenges, and more.
“Once we began to see the impact of SSP, I was fascinated — especially by how it used music, not just as therapy, but as a direct tool to support regulation and connection,” Chris recalls. “As both a parent and a musician, it resonated deeply with me.”
“That’s what drew me to collaborate with Unyte Health,” Chris adds. “[Its] mission aligns so closely with ours: using sound and science to foster connection, inclusion and well-being for neurodivergent individuals and their families.”
Introducing SSP Visions: A New Age Experience for Healing
The upcoming SSP Visions playlist brings Chris’s unique New Age ambient style to the SSP. Known for integrating sensory vibrational sound and neurofrequency music into his immersive performances, Chris’s unique compositions are scientifically designed to soothe the nervous system and create emotionally safe listening spaces. Through creating immersive environments, his music aims to help listeners slow down, regulate and reconnect.
His latest album, The Colors in My Mind, is nominated for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album at the 2026 GRAMMY Awards. He’s no stranger to this category, having earned his first nomination for his previous album, Visions of Sounds De Luxe, just a year ago. Both GRAMMY-nominated albums will be featured in SSP Visions.
As an artist, Chris has earned recognition from Rolling Stone, Billboard, and NBC News Daily, and won a Telly Award for Best Social Impact Film. The Recording Academy has recognized Chris as a Leader in Disability, Neurodivergence, and Inclusivity in Music.
Through SSP Visions, Chris continues his commitment to inclusivity, creating soundscapes that feel emotionally safe and neurologically supportive.

The Power of Sound — and a Shared Vision for Healing
For Chris, sound is more than a sensory experience.
“Sound is one of the most powerful tools we have — not just for expression, but for regulation, for healing, and for connection,” Chris says. “For those who are nonverbal or experience the world in a sensory-rich or different way, music can provide a means of expression that feels natural and intuitive.”
That understanding mirrors the foundation of the SSP. By helping the nervous system feel safe, the SSP opens the door to connection, allowing healing, growth and restoration to follow.
“Music meets people where they are,” Chris adds. “It doesn’t ask them to conform — it invites them in. That’s what makes it such a powerful tool for connection: it honors the full range of human experience, spoken or not.”
At Unyte Health, this belief is at the heart of everything we do — using the gentle power of sound to help people reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
Expanding What’s Possible for SSP Providers
For SSP providers, Chris’s upcoming SSP Visions playlist offers a new way to engage clients in the listening process. Each track has been carefully filtered through the patented SSP algorithm to guide the listener toward balance — expanding the growing SSP music library to meet a wide range of client needs, from those seeking grounding and calm to those rebuilding connection after trauma or dysregulation.
“As a musician, I’ve always known that sound can move people,” Chris says. “Experiencing it with Christian showed me how deeply it can regulate the nervous system and support a sense of safety.”
