Unyte Health welcomed Jim Donovan, multi-platinum musician and director of the Music and Wellness Program at Saint Francis University to this webinar, Using Music for Healing, alongside Rebecca Knowles, OTD, OTR/L, RYT, and Derek Mihalicz head of Unyte Health’s customer experience and operations.
This session brought together three unique perspectives in the world of music-based interventions. You can expect to learn about:
- The latest advancements and applications in music-based interventions like the SSP.
- How music can be a tool for accessing the nervous system.
- What “regulating frequencies” mean and look like.
Jim Donovan shared his personal journey as a multi-platinum musician and how he transitioned to using music as a healing tool, offering team building and wellness programs to organizations who value authentic connection. Through this perspective, we discussed the brand-new SSP playlist, titled “SSP Groove”, developed by Jim Donovan. SSP Groove features an eclectic mix of relaxing instrumentals, pop-rock songs and percussive beats, taking the listener on a rhythmic journey to regulation.
Rebecca Knowles shared recent findings from Unyte Health’s white paper, Nervous system regulation through listening: The science and applications. Through this clinical perspective, we explored what mechanisms make the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) unique, such as regulating frequencies of voice, and why frequency can help clinicians reach their clients’ nervous systems.
Derek Mihalicz dove into how the SSP music is filtered and what makes it special. Derek and Jim also shared considerations in creating SSP Groove and how it will support Unyte Health’s commitment to creating accessible and diverse musical offerings.
