Cultivating a Felt Sense: Sound, Rhythm, and the Neurobiology of Embodiment in Clinical Practice

August 25, 2026 @ 12-1 pm ET
Featuring expert speakers:
Sheila Frick, OTR/L
Jaymie Stavdal, MS, OTR/L
Leah Dawang, SEP

Many clients impacted by trauma, neurodivergence, or sensory differences live entirely in their heads — feeling disconnected, spacey, or ungrounded. When a client lacks a stable, embodied foundation, therapeutic progress often hits a wall. Lasting clinical transformation requires going back to where embodiment begins: rhythm, sound, movement, and the body.

Join Sheila Frick, OTR/L, a pioneer in therapeutic listening and sensory integration, and pediatric trauma expert Jaymie Stavdal, MS, OTR/L, to unpack the neurobiological roots of embodiment. You’ll discover how sound and rhythm act as bottom-up "physiological portals" that go underneath cognition to restore safety, interoception, and regulation from the inside out.

Attend to learn how to:

  • Identify root developmental gaps by understanding how early sensory, vestibular, and relational experiences build physical and emotional stability.
  • Spot hidden disembodiment using subtle physical, relational, and affective indicators of fragmentation across the lifespan.
  • Explore bottom-up interventions using frequency, movement, and breath to help dysregulated clients find their center.
  • Leverage listening therapies by integrating modulated sound and music to create the exact physiological conditions for deep therapeutic work.

Whether you’re an occupational therapist, mental health clinician, or nervous system-informed practitioner—or want to be—this session is for you! Register today to gain practical, sound-based strategies that help your clients feel regulated, connected, and truly at home in their bodies.
