Live Webinar: Cultivating the therapeutic alliance with neurodivergent clients

April 23, 2026 @ 2 pm E.T.
Featuring expert speakers:
Sean Inderbitzen, LCSW, DSW
Jason Tafler, Founder & CEO of Unyte Health

A strong therapeutic alliance can be one of the most influential factors in successful treatment. But how accurately are clinicians truly attuned to their clients?

Research suggests that even in healthy relationships, clinicians and clients may only be accurately “in sync” about one-third of the time. When working with neurodivergent clients — whose nervous systems may process safety, social engagement, and sensory information differently — this gap in attunement can become even more significant.

In this Clinical Conversation, autistic psychotherapist and researcher Sean Inderbitzen, LCSW, DSW joins Unyte Founder & CEO Jason Tafler to explore how clinicians can strengthen therapeutic alliance with neurodivergent clients through the lens of the nervous system, neuroception, and attunement.

Participants will explore how subtle misattunements can register as cues of threat in the nervous system, examine common challenges that arise between clinicians and neurodivergent clients, and learn practical ways to more accurately meet and match their clients’ nervous systems.

Through clinical insight and lived experience, this session will explore:

  • What defines a strong therapeutic alliance and how it shapes clinical outcomes
  • Why clinicians often believe they are more attuned than they actually are
  • How neuroception influences experiences of safety and connection in therapy
  • Common misattunements that occur between clinicians and neurodivergent clients
  • Practical ways providers can more accurately attune to their clients’ nervous systems
  • How music-based listening interventions can support sensory-level coherence, regulation, and a felt sense of safety in session

Using lived experience and clinical examples, we will explore how therapists can better recognize these gaps and develop practical strategies to foster trust, safety, and authentic connection in therapy.ng a practical framework for working with protective adaptations, strengthening co-regulation, and expanding their nervous-system-informed toolkit in everyday practice.

Jason Tafler, Founder & CEO of Unyte Health

Jason Tafler, Founder & CEO of Unyte, has long been driven by an interest in health, neuroscience, and the mind-body connection. In 2016, he was hospitalized with a life-threatening inflammatory condition. During treatment, he realized his only priority was living to see his wife and son again.

At the time, Jason was EVP & Chief Digital Officer at Rogers Communications and had previously worked in investment banking and led PointRoll, a U.S.-based marketing technology company he grew to over $100M in revenue.

After decades of intense work, he recognized the toll it had taken. During recovery, he began a daily meditation practice and credits nervous system regulation techniques as central to both his healing and renewed sense of purpose. This led him to found Unyte and acquire Wild Divine and Integrated Listening Systems.

Today, Jason leads Unyte with a mindful approach. He enjoys meditation, yoga, time in nature, and exploring ancient wisdom and modern science. His passion for well-being is shared by his wife, Afshan, a life and health coach, and his son, Aydan.
