Unyte Health welcomed Dr. Stephen Porges, the author of Polyvagal Theory and Karen Onderko, instrumental in bringing the SSP from the laboratory to the clinical world to this Clinical Conversations: The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP): Clinical Insights and Provider Stories. Hosted by Unyte Health and moderated by the founder of Sounds True Tami Simon, this session oriented around the stories shared in Dr. Porges and Karen’s new book, Safe and Sound: A Polyvagal Approach to Connection, Change and Healing.
This book is composed of stories from SSP providers and exemplifies real-life SSP delivery. Helping to positively impact social engagement and nervous system regulation, the SSP can support a range of client presentations due to its capacity for dynamic delivery. Through the lens of real-life providers and the author of Polyvagal Theory, this session covered some of the treatment goals that the SSP can achieve in both mental and physical health.
This session explored questions like:
- How has the SSP changed since the launch of the program in 2016 and what impact do providers and their clients have on the SSP?
- What client presentations can the SSP support and how are current SSP providers using this intervention?
